The car and bike rally of the Democratic Revolutionary Youth Front, the youth wing of Communist Party of Revolutionary Marxist (CPRM) voicing the demand for Gorkhaland, price hike and the FDI started from Kalijhora today morning. The rally started from the Kurseong motor stand on Tuesday and had reached Kalijhora via Darjeeling. The rally reached Kalimpong, touched some parts of the Dooars via Lava and Algaraha this afternoon.‘We want Gorkhaland, GTA is not our demand’ echoed the town. They conducted small-small public meeting educating the people on the inevitability of Gorkhaland on their way to Kalimpong. Addresing the gathering at Damber Chowk, the CPRM Youth leaders Arun Ghatani, Shekhar Chettri and Arun Pradhan stressed on the consequences of Gorkhaland. They said that the GTA cannot provide identity to the Gorkhas residing all over the country. Gorkhaland has been the dream of every Gorkha and the party shall thrive to achieve it they added. At last, they appealed the public to support the cause for one’s own identity. Also criticizing the Central Government’s price hike policy, they said that the poor have become the direct victim and they are struggling for their survival.The CPI (ML) from Siliguri also joined today’s rally who protested the FDI and the price hike.Earlier CPRM leader JB Rai welcomed the rally with khadas.
