The 3rd Cinchona Challenge Cup 2012 Football Tournament was inaugurated today at Sangsher Mangal Dhura playground. The tournament is being organized by the Sangsher Cinchona Club in order to encourage the young players. The students of St. Mary’s School and SUMI presented a band display on the occasion.The inaugural day saw Shillong team victorious against Mohun Bagan PCM with 1-0. The finals of the tournament will be played on December 16, 2012.The former Mohun Bagan footballer cum Observer also selected Suraj Mangar, footballer of Sangsher Cinchona Club also a student of SUMI for the Mohun Bagan under 16 team. He was sent to Kolkata today itself.The GTA Sabhasad cum the head of Cinchona Department, Samuel Gurung was the chief guest for the day while Kalimpong Sub Division Officer, LN Sherpa was the guest of honour. Also present were Lieutenant Col. MS Gurung from 27 Mt. Div., Director of Cinchona & Medicinal Plants Department, Dr GC Subba and the Chairman of Tourism Department, Government of Sikkim, GM Gurung.
