Community sports held at Mungsung

Community sports and other competitions were held at the Mungsung playground by the United Games and Sports Association. The said event was introduced during the British regime by the Cinchona Department of Mungsung.  Thus, it is ritually organized every year during Deepawali till date.Today’s event witnessed 5 kms and 1500 mtr walk race and 100, 200 and 400 mtrs marathon. Runes Tamang of Upper Pala stood 1st in the 5 km race while Hajung Bhutia of Ghoom and Ramesh Lama stood 2nd and 3rd, respectively.Later a dance competition was held. The child artists (painters) of Mungsung Library also exhibited their paintings duirng the day.The programme held under the presidentship of Cinchona Department’s Assistant Manager, DD Mukhia had the presence of GTA Deputy Chief Col. Ramesh Aaley as the chief guest. The GTA Sabhasads, Gopal Ruchal, CP Poudyal and Kalpana Tamang and the Director of Cinchona Department, Dr. GC Subba were also present.
