Durga Golay, Principal of Zing Lama Uday High School and Dik Bahadur Dewan, former Vice Principal of St. George Higher Secondary School, Pedong, were conferred with Gorkha Gaurav Samman during the Gorkha Gaurav Samman programme organized by the Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh (BGP) today. Both have been conferred with the award as a mark of respect for their contribution towards education.Litterateur, PR Pradhan in his address said that the present education system is giving rise to unemployment issues. The youths now need to think what kind of society they are creating. At present times, there is a need of vocational education instead of formal education, he underlined.The BGP’s Central working president, Dr Anos Das Pradhan, the Kalimpong Branch BGP president, Saroja Rai, Kishore Pradhan and Mohan Poudyal from Communist Party of Revolutionary Marxist (CPRM) and litterateur BR Chettri were present during the function. It may be noted that the said award is being given by BGP since 2009.
