After 6 years of gap, Library Training Center under Kalimpong Public College will be unbolt from this new session. It has been said that it shall start operating from coming February as usual. The concerned department under the Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA) has been busy in promoting the same and the people interested for the training has been filling up the forms. The intellects have breathed a sigh of relief after the news of the opening of the only library training center in the Hills. The state government in the year 2010 was on the mood to shift the center to Siliguri but their planned failed when the political parties and different organizations protested it. Though they rejected the shifting but no significant heed for the opening of the training center was paid. The state library minister Abdul Karim Chaudhary in his visit to Kalimpong had also assured the opening of the library along with the maintenance but it also remained limited to assurances. There are not two certified library center in the state one being at Kalimpong and the other is at Banipur. It is learnt that there are a total of 2456 libraries out of which 19 are government sponsored, 228 is the ward and the municipality level, 7 are aided by the government and 2209 are the primary libraries in the state..
