People’s Forum object the idea of dropping charges registered against Morcha workers

The People’s Forum has objected the idea of discharging the cases registered against the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) workers by the Police during the time of Gorkhaland agitation.“It is surprising that the District Police has decided to take back the case”, said that Forum’s General Secretary, Praveen Gurung.During the time of agitation, Government bungalows, houses, vehicles, Police stations, etc. were set on fire. The national highway was blocked further, violating the Supreme Court’s orders, mentioned Gurung.“If this is the definition of agitation then more number of people will be encouraged to do so”, he told and added that after the agitation, people have lost their trust on Police. He also alleged that the Police work according to the ruling party and the party workers do not fear the Police. The people still have faith on Judiciary. However, if the cases against the Morcha are dismissed, then a wrong message will go to the people, that even the Judiciary is nothing infront of the Government.Gurung further, said that during agitation cases were also filed against many innocent people and if the charges against them are dropped then it’s well and good. The Forum has forwarded a letter regarding the same to the Centre Home Minister, Minister for Law and Justice, state’s Chief Minister, Governor and IG. They have also decided to file a PIL.
