The programme was organized under the auspices of Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR), Tadong.Dr A Kumar, the resource person for the day, enlightened the farmers who had gathered from different sub divisions of the hills about various aspects of orange farming.Unlike before, orange farming in hills has descended. Thus, the KKKS has put forward their step to restart the same. The Secretary of KKKS, Vishnu Chettri after having surveyed orange farming in 80% of the villages in the hills, informed that most of the orange trees are 40-50 years old and now time has come to replace them. Therefore, the KKKS has ventured into production/ preparation of saplings of orange trees. Since, the female population is more engaged in farming in the hills, they are being educated about orange farming. These females are also expected to pass on whatever they have learnt to their following generations.
