Gangtok, 16 July : The body of a 20-year-old youth was found at the Supermarket in Gangtok by police today. He was stabbed to death, police said.
Police further informed that the deceased worked with a local restaurant at Lalmarket and was a resident of Ashabari in
Jalpaiguri.
“He was locally known as Yakub. However, whether that is his real name or not is yet to be confirmed as no identity proof was found on the deceased,” a police
official said.
The Superintendent of Police, Mr Manoj Tiwari, said that no weapon had been found from the spot where the body was found. “However, there were pieces of broken glass and a broken bottle which might have been used for the murder,” he said.
Police sources said the deceased was stabbed several times. “The body has been sent to the STNM Hospital for post-mortem. After we receive the autopsy report, the timing of the murder will be fixed. This is what is known as a blind case. However, we are trying our best to get to the bottom,” added Mr Tiwari.
The Sadar police station has registered a case under Section 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code and the case is being investigated.
