Gangtok, 7 July: The Sikkim Sangram Parishad Party (SSPP) led by former Chief Minister Narbahadur Bhandari is on the “Jan Bichar Bimarsa Abhiyan” (Walk the Talk), a car rally starting from Gangtok today. The rally aimed at communicating with the people and to inform about the ideologies of the party to maintain the Article 371 F of the Indian Constitution.
The rally led by Mr Nar Bahadur Bhandari had the presence of the Working president Rajendra Upreti, Sikkim Sangram Mahila Parishad president Chumsang Shenga, Women vice president BK Chettri, party vice president Kamal K Rai, Rinzing Namgyal Bhutia and members of the Central Working Committee and party supporters. The former chief minister flanked by more than 50 vehicles on the rally.
During the course of the car rally, the party president and the members of the Sikkim Sangram Parishad Party visited various places, bazaars, villages of the West, East and South Districts, including Singtam Bazaar, Timi-Tarku, Damthang, Namchi, Jorethang, Naya Bazaar, Mangsari village, L Daramdin, Sombaria Bazaar and Soreng Bazaar. Mr Bhandari interacted with the mass at different places. The people placed their grievances and complaints regarding the discrimination done by the present ruling SDF party government. As per their version they have reported same complaints to the Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling, during his past years 42-day Sikkim tour (Sikkim Bhraman), but no action has been initiated nor justice meted out to us” a Press statement from the party claimed.
The people claimed they wanted to support Sangram Sarkar in the forthcoming 2014 General Election.
Further, the party high command in the course of the car rally found the road condition to have gone from bad to worse. Mr Bhandari, in particular, expressed his sadness and anguish for not properly maintaining the Bojek Sleep (landslides) in West where the concerned department neither could keep a dozer or not even any PWD labours to clear the slips, due to which Daramdin Assembly constituencies have been cut off from rest of Sikkim” the Press release added. Mr Bhandari and members of the Sangram Parishad Party will halt at Soreng, Malbassey today and will meet the locals. The team will continue its rally on Monday.
