The five people accused of being ISI agents and who were arrested some months ago have been granted bail by the Kurseong ACJM Court. According to court sources, four of them were granted bail on Monday, while the fifth received his today.
Advocate for the accused, Bhaskar Das, said four of the accused were arrested and was produced before court on May 20, while the fifth suspect was arrested at a later date. He added the four, namely Magan Bahadur Singh, Dhan Kumar Pradhan, Gopal Khati and Messo Sauriya were granted bail on Monday and Mani Kumar Sonar got bail today.
The five had been arrested under charges of being ISI agents and were booked under Sections 121/121A/123/124 IPC and 39 of the Official Secret Act. But as even after 90 days the police failed to file a charge sheet against the five, the court had no option but to grant them bail. According to court sources, the five will be released on Wednesday from Darjeeling Jail after the required formalities are conducted.
Notably, the five had been arrested on May 19 and 20 from different places under Kurseong subdivision.(EOI)
