Janmukti Morcha chief Bimal Gurung today set up camp in Kurseong once
again with an aim to strengthen his party’s base that has taken a
beating following the growth of the Trinamool Congress.
The GJM chief had camped in Kurseong on November 2 for five days before leaving for Darjeeling and Kalimpong with the promise of returning back after Diwali. Gurung arrived in town around 7pm and held a meeting with party activists at the Kurseong Municipality Multipurpose Hall.
Several GJM activists and leaders including Kurseong Municipality councilors were present at the meeting.
Party sources said Gurung will be staying in Kurseong for a few days and visit several villages to reform and strengthen his party’s units and sub-units. He aims to set right the damage inflicted on the GJM by the upsurge of the GNLF and TMC. The GJM leadership however, has been claiming none from the party has joined the GNLF or the TMC.(EOIC)
