Students
and authorities of Kurseong College are confused regarding the schedule
of the students’ union election. The confusion started after senior TMC
leader Binny Sharma on Monday announced in Darjeeling the party would
contest in the December 13 election.
Kurseong College principal Dr. Prabhat
Pradhan said the college authorities and students are confused about the
election date and have been constantly enquiring about it. He said some
dailies had quoted a senior TMC leader stating the date for the college
election has been fixed on December 13.
Pradhan added the state government had
earlier issued a notification on its official website that all colleges
should complete their elections by January 31, 2014. Further, the winter
vacation of Kurseong College starts from December 16 and this has
escalated the confusion further. He said the college management has
already written to North Bengal University enquiring about the election
and is awaiting a response. (EOIC)
