SILIGURI: Militant outfit Kamtapur Liberation Organisation's (KLO) vice-president Tom Adhikary was arrested along with an associate near the India-Nepal border here Sunday, police said on Sunday.
"Adhikary and another KLO leader were arrested at Lichu Bagan (in Darjeeling district) at 1.30pm today (Sunday)," Siliguri's police commissioner Jagamohan told IANS.
A total of 50 SIM cards and a motorcycle were seized from their possession.
Blamed for a string of attacks in north West Bengal, the KLO has been demanding a Kamtapur state comprising six districts - Cooch Behar, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, North and South Dinajpur and Malda - of West Bengal and four districts - Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Dhubri and Goalpara - of Assam. (PTI)
