police today started removing party flags from the government buildings
and public places in an attempt to avoid any untoward incident during
the polls. Talking on the ongoing arrest of leaders the OC Sanjay Das
said the district administration has given strict orders to arrest those
against whom warrants have been issued.
Das said there are several pending cases on more than 100 hill leaders and the police are conducting search operations to arrest them. He said the raids will continue until the Lok Sabha elections.

Mirik Police sets up Women’s Desk
In a bid to pace up actions against violence on women, the Mirik Police
has set up a separate “Women’s Desk” in the police station here. OC
Sanjay Kumar Das said all the reports relating to the cases of violence
against women will be registered at the women’s desk by women police
personnel. Das informed following the setting up or the new desk four
cases of violence on women have been registered and it has also helped
better and swift addressing of the grievance. (EOIC)
