Saman Pathak, the CPM’s candidate from
Darjeeling, will visit Mirik on March 16 to further his election
campaign. Pathak, who has begun touring various places to woo voters,
said he is all for finding a lasting solution to the problems of the
hills. He also said he is keen to demand the incorporation of Darjeeling
into the NE council and to champion the cause of tea garden workers.
Replying to a query, the CPM leader said
the people of the hills will vote for that candidate who shows promise
of sincerely addressing the burning issues being faced by Darjeeling. If
elected, Pathak has promised to seek a ‘tax-free zone’ status for the
Darjeeling hills. He further claimed of continuously making efforts to
solve the myriad problems plaguing the hills while expressing confidence winning. Pathak is due to meet the CPM’s regional leaders, party workers and supporters in Mirik on March 16.(EOIC)
