The state cabinet has reportedly approved the formation of a development board for the Tamang community in the Darjeeling hills. A team comprising 14 members led by Nazoo Glan of the Tamang Youth Association today met with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Naavana House in the afternoon. They interacted for half an hour during which the chief minister was presented with the approval documents given by the Cabinet to the association. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Mangar, Rai, Sunwar, Newar, Bhujel, Thami, Jogi, Khas, Yakha Dewan and Dhimal communities who requested Banerjee for Scheduled Tribe status.
