WBSSC to appeal to NCTE on Teachers Eligibility Test(TET) issue
Kolkata 21 March: Following the stay order of Calcutta High Court on Teachers Eligibility Test(TET) on Thursday, the  West Bengal School Service Commission today decided that they will appeal to the National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE) and provide all assistance to the candidates.
Prof. Subiresh Bhattacharya, chairman of the West Bengal School Service Commission said that  “We will look after all possibilities so that the candidates who have applied for TET can take the examination.”
He also added that they will sit with their panel of lawyers and discuss with them the future course of action. The fresh dates of the examination will be announced after the High Court order.
Senior officials of SSC added that they will now move the Division Bench as Calcutta High Court has stayed the recruitment.
According to the petitioners, allowing candidates without B.Ed was a violation of a ministry of human resources development (MHRD) notification.
The  Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act requires all teachers of classes V to VIII to have B.Ed, the MHRD had given a relaxation on this requirement till 31 March, 2014.
The petitioners had argued that with this year's TET scheduled on 29 March, it would be impossible for SSC to meet the criterion.(SNS)
