Siliguri, 13 April: Though Mamata Banerjee is yet to clear her stance on a post-poll
alliance, people, including those from the minority groups, speculate
that Didi will finally extend support to the Congress. If not, they feel
she will help the BJP from outside, in exchange for a development
package for the state.
A resident of Kamrangaguri, near the north Bengal secretariat, Uttarkanya, in Jalpaiguri, hopes that the Congress will be able to come to power under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.According to him, who is associated with the INTTUC led by Sovandeb Chattopadhyay, people belonging to the minority community will cast vote for the Congress first. However, a section of them, particularly followers of Mamata Banerjee, will vote for the Trinamul in north Bengal, he said.
“Such a decision is aimed at curbing the BJP’s chances to grab power,” he added.
Another man, a resident of Fulbari area in Jalpaiguri, Muhammad Akimuddin, said: “People belonging to our community will not hesitate to vote for Mamata Banerjee though she was with the NDA government earlier.”(SNS)
