Rai today inaugurated the Common Facilities Centre that will sell
locally made candles named Namchi Designer Candles and other handmade
products.
The CFC (showroom) was opened at Central
Park in Namchi bazaar and is being supported by IDBI bank and the North
Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi). Its aim is to
support needy women and unemployed youths of the south district by
providing them employment opportunities. Chief guest Rai was accompanied
by IDBI CGM (Mumbai) RV Iyer and NEDFi DGM AK Das at the opening
ceremony.
Rai congratulated the designer candle
making fraternity stating the showroom is in appreciation of their
achievement and work. He also thanked the IDBI and the NEDFi in taking
the initiative to help unemployed youths and encouraging them through
such schemes. The SLA speaker further noted diligence, patience,
discipline and confidence leads to success when undertaking any work.
Meanwhile, Das said, “We are looking to
help more people become financially sound and also thank IDBI Bank for
pitching in to help in the noble cause.”
Iyer also said his bank would continue to extend further support by way of loans and hosting CSR programmes.

Avishek Lama informed two more Common Facilities Centres will be opening
shortly in Manarim and Samseybong. Handmade products include chocolate,
paper products from Borong and handloom and handcraft from Assam,
Manipur and Meghalaya.

Rai said 120 unemployed women undertook training in designing candles
and 80 of them are working at present. She thanked the NEDFi and the
IDBI Bank for their support and help. (EOIC)
