The Bhutanese Society of Kentucky in the US on Monday released the Hindu traditional calendar ‘Panchanga’ for the year 2015 at a small gathering in Louisville.
Padam Lal Dhakal, a renowned astrologer from Nepal who prepared the calendar, said Panchanga is a calendar that describes the position of celestial bodies and gives astrological details. It has been prepared according to the US Eastern Time zone and gives detail of sunrise, sunset, astrological dates, celestial position and auspicious occasions among others.
He added, “It would be inauspicious to hold special Hindu ceremonies including marriage, and naming newborns if we do not calculate the time according to the longitude and latitude of the concerned place. Hence, I advise all to study the Panchanga for better living. The calendar is priced at $8, only to cover printing costs.” (HS)
