Rangit-Majhua gets electricity first time after India independence by GTA
The day was a historic day for the 154 houses as Mandal Gaon, Singbong Dera, Gairi Gaon, Arubotey under the Rangit-Majhua Gram Panchayat as they got electricity for the first time after 68 years of independence by Gorkhaland Territorial Administration under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana scheme.
People of these region had to travel for an hour to Maneybhanjang to charge their mobile phones but from today they can do it from their own homes.
The GTA has also provided free installation of electricity lines for BPL families of these area.
It is sad to know that there are so many places across our region, that are yet to get electricity, road and drinking water connections but GTA is committed to work on this issue and improve the standard of life of our rural people.
I have visited the entire GTA region in the last 3 years and it has come to my notice that around 167 villages did not have any electricity but I am happy write that that today GTA has been able to bring electricity to nearly 40 percent of these villages.
