The people of Sikkim will no longer have to travel to Kolkata for any passport related work. Starting today, the State will have its own Passport Seva Kendra to cater to the people of Sikkim. The Passport Seva Kendra Gangtok situated at the ground floor of Manan Kendra was formally inaugurated today by Chief Secretary Government of Sikkim Smt. R. Ongmu.
The Chief Secretary expressed her delight at the operationalisation of the PSK which she said is a huge achievement for the state and the people of Sikkim. She expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of External Affairs for the support. Smt. Ongmu also thanked the Chief Minister for his guidance and for providing the premises at Manan Kendra for the establishment of the PSK.
The opening remarks were made by RPO Kolkata Ms. Geetika Srivastava.
The operational launch programme had the presence of Additional Chief Secretary Mr. S.C. Gupta, Director General of Police Mr. A. Mohaneney, Regional Passport Officer, Kolkata Ms. Geetika Srivastava, APO PSK Gangtok Mr. T.T. Bhutia, Heads of Departments and officers from the Ministry of External Affairs Government of India.
