Siliguri Gorkha Manch empowering Gorkhalis in city

The Siliguri Gorkha Manch (SGM) held its committee meeting at its Himali Sahid Nagar office on Friday. General Secretary Suren Pradhan inaugurated the meet which focused on empowering the Nepali community living in the city and dedication towards the wellness of the public. He called for camaraderie and expressed a need to augment diligence towards community duty.

“We should stay united as one body and take all possible steps to improve lives of the Gorkhali people living in Siliguri, Terai, and Dooars region, as sizeable amount of people put their trust on SGM” said Pradhan.

He also informed that the organization would look into the complications of Totgaon, Mangpang, and  Bhanga Busty at the earliest. “These villages fall under remote area of Jalpaiguri district, the estimated population of which is about 1800, and 90 per cent of it are Gorkhalis. The villages, Totgaon in particular are deprived of basic facilities such as fresh water, primary school, health center, and proper road,” said the SGM Secretary. 

“We would also hold a medical camp at Dhimal Chant under Phansidewa block on 12 of July, next month,” he added.The meeting was concluded with President Sudha Pasi giving a vote of thanks and lauding workers for their efforts at all levels. (EOIC)
