Darjeeling DM files complaint against Bimal Gurung's daughter

Darjeeling: The Darjeeling District Magistrate has submitted an enquiry report regarding the ICSE Pass Certificate of Annapurna Gurung, daughter of Bimal Gurung, Gorkha leader and former GTA chief, to the Principal Secretary of the state School Education department, in which she has complained of Annapurna impersonating one Nanda Gurung and continuing her studies, thereby committing fraud. The police will also be initiating a case based on the complaint.
The report dated June 21, 2018, states that Annapurna Gurung, daughter of Bimal Gurung, had got admitted in Class 2 at Mount Hermon School, Darjeeling, on October 31, 1994. Her date of birth as per the school records is October 25, 1987. She had appeared for the ICSE Examinations in 2004 from Mount Hermon School, but had failed to qualify. Her ICSE Index Number was T/1354/056. Her address as per school records was Patleybash, PO North Point, Darjeeling.
"It then seems that Miss Annapurna Gurung then used the ICSE pass certificate of one Miss Nanda Gurung from Green Lawns Schools, Darjeeling," stated Joyoshi Das Gupta, District Magistrate, Darjeeling.
Nanda Gurung, daughter of Purna Bahadur Gurung, hailed from Karaiya, Ward No. 3, District Rupandehi, Bhalwari, Bhairhawa, Nepal. She had also appeared and passed ICSE in the same year from Green Lawns School, Darjeeling. Her date of birth is mentioned in the school records as March 20, 1987. Nanda's ICSE Index Number was T/1352/039. With Nanda's pass certificate, Annapurna took admission in Himali Boarding School, Kurseong, in Class XI on July 10,2004, impersonating Nanda Gurung and continued her studies.
