Four new COVID19 cases reported in Sikkim total 7

Four new COVID19 cases were reported in Sikkim today, taking the total number of active cases in the state to seven. Director general of state health department Dr Pempa Tshering Bhutia informed this in a health bulletin. 
 
AIR correspondent reports that of the four new cases, one is a 22-year-old returnee from Maharashtra. The person has fever and is already admitted in a triage facility.
 
Another infected person is 21 years old who was staying at a facility quarantine. He is a relative of a person who had tested positive on 3rd June. The newly infected person has been shifted to the New STNM hospital near Gangtok and 27 of his contacts have been identified for tests.
 
Dr Bhutia informed that the two other new positive cases have been confirmed from test reports received from North Bengal Medical College in West Bengal. Both are female returnees of 29 and 37 years from South Sikkim.
 
They have already completed 14 days of quarantine at a facility, but are now being shifted to the New STNM hospital and all their contacts will be tested.

Dr Bhutia added that immediate contact tracing has been done for all new positive cases. He also informed that the person who was the state’s first COVID19 case reported on 23rd May has again tested positive, but has a low viral load.
He appealed to people to maintain social distancing, wear face masks and follow all other guidelines.
