Phubala, January 14, 2012: On 14 Jan morning, 5/9 Gorkha Rifles and 33 AR under Logtak Brigade of Red Shield Division received information that three fishermen of Indira Colony, Phubala in Moirang sub-division who went for fishing in Logtak Lake on the evening of 13 Jan have gone missing because of inclement weather conditions and heavy storm.
Immediately, a joint rescue team was launched by 5/9 Gorkha Rifles and 33 AR to search for missing fishermen.
On thorough search of Logtak Lake for 12 hours, one fisherman was rescued alive identified as L Soben Singh, age 47 years, resident of Ward No 2 Phubala.
However, one dead body of fisherman was recovered and has been identified as H Binod Singh, age 65 years, resident of Ward No 2 Phubala and has been sent for postmortem examination.
One fisherman Name L Tomba Singh, age 47 years, son of L Mani Singh, resident of Ward No 2 Phubala is still missing, search operation is in progress.
