On 25.10.13  Uttarbanga Kshetriya Gramin Bank opened three Ultra Small Branches (USB )attached to Kharibari , Chaterhat and Khaprail branches in Kharibari, Phansidewa and Matigara block..Shri U.C.C. Singh Lead District Manager, Darjeeling District,, Shri Walter Kujur, District Development Manager, NABARD, Darjeeling District, Shri Bhabesh Ch. Indra, Regional Manager UBKGB, Darjeeling District , Mr. Durgesh Ranjen Sen, branch managers of UBKGB branches, panchayat functionaries and villagers of the respective area attended the programme. The uniform brand name of these Ultra Small Branches opened by UBKGB is ‘GRAMIN PRAGATI’ which means one step forward towards the development of rural people at large who are yet to enjoy complete banking facility.These USBs were opened to take banking services to the doorstep of the villagers, bring more people under banking fold and to provide better services to them under financial inclusion programme of Reserve Bank of India . The USB are under the control of base branch of UBKGB and people can open bank accounts, deposit money and also withdraw money from these centres.
Financial literacy camp was also organized at Kharibari for the benefit of villagers of that area. In the camp people were sensitised about need for having a bank account, various financial product and services of UBKGB, benefits of being connected with formal financial institutions, benefit of nomination facility, need for repaying loan in time etc
