Triple murder of a family has rocked Kalimpong town. A
couple and a lady were found brutally murdered at their home this
morning at Charkol Sunwar Village, about 35 km away from Kalimpong town.
Krishna Gurung, 52 and his Wife Anjana Gurung, 48, along with Manmaya Gurung, 58, were hacked to death by one Tej Bahadur Rai, alias Pandey, 26, last night, according to the children of the couple, who were unhurt in the incident. The children said that after the murder, the man ran away with some jewellery and money.Krishna was a physically handicapped farmer, while his wife was a teacher in a primary school in the village. Pandey used to work in the farm.The third victim was a neighbour, who happened to be at Krishna’s place in the evening yesterday. “Pandey asked us to hide under the bed or he would kill us too,” said Rejina Gurung, who, along with her sister Anjana Gurung, hid under the bed.
Police under Kalimpong police station in-charge Achinta Gupta rushed to the site this morning after a villager noticed the bodies in the house and informed them.Police said an old enmity between them could be the reason behind the
incident. They, however, said the actual motive can be ascertained only after a thorough probe. Kalimpong Additional Superintendent of Police Anjali Singh said the matter is under investigation.(sns)
