Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leader Rosan Giri surrenders before court


Darjeeling, Mar 9: Gorkha Janmukti Morcha general secretary Rosahn Giri and Gorkhaland Personnel (GLP) chief Colonel (retd) Ramesh Alley wanted in some criminal cases, surrendered before a court of law.





Darjeeling Chief Judicial Magistrate Nanda Deb Burman, however, released the duo on bail.


Mr Giri had been wanted by the Darjeeling Sadar police in connection with a criminal case against him of September 7, 2009, and former armyman Ramesh Alley in a case of June 13, 2010.


The duo surrendered after the police stepped up combing operation to arrest the named criminals and politicians following the Election Commission's directive to ensure conducive atmosphere for free and fair elctions in West Bengal.


Deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Zutshi in his recent visit here had ordered the administration to arrest all politicians and criminals, whose names are in the warrant list.
