Ancient Gupta relics discovered in Siliguri

Siliguri, May 1 : Two age-old stone pieces belonging to the Gupta period were excavated near Tarbanda under Bagdogra police station in Siliguri sub-division during the past two days.
State irrigation department workers while carrying out digging for wells, stumbled upon the relics measuring one ft/one ft and 27 inch/ 10 inch.
'The antiques are kept for the time being at the Akshay Kumar Museum under North Bengal University,'' said museum head Fazlur Rahman.

Police said the state archaelogical department had been informed and the site cordoned off.
