Siliguri, Jul 11 : 'Bangla O Bangla Bhasa Bachao Committee' today announced to observe 48-hour Bangla bandh on July 17 and 18 in protest against the proposed Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA), considering it as the first step towards a split Bengal.
President of the faction Mukunda Majumdar said the proposed autonomous formation, expected to get shaped in a soon-to-be held tripatriate meeting involving the state government, would be the first step towards a divided Bengal.
He said Tarai and Dooars should stay out of the contour of the new administrative
set up.

The group along with other faction Amar Bangla burnt the effigies of GJM leaders Bimal Gurung and Roshan Giri in Siliguri town area today.

Meanwhile, other factions like Bangla Morcha Janachetana and Rashtriya Shiv Sena also decided to hold bandh on the same issue on July 15.
