Dimapur Gorkha Union cancels Gorkha Youth Club Dimapur programme

Dimapur, October 22 (MExN): According to a press note issued by the Dimapur Gorkha Union, in spite of the ban by the Government and the Dimapur Gorkha Union and even after the rejection of the permission by the administration, the Gorkha Youth Club Dimapur organised “Subh Dipawali bonanza & cocktail lunch, in aid of club construction of the Gorkha Youth Club Dimapur” to be held at Rotary Club Dimapur on October 23.
The DGU has therefore informed the public that “the unauthorized programme of the GYCD to be held on October 23 at Rotary Club Dimapur stands cancelled.” The money collected by the Gorkha Youth Club Dimapur against the illegal sale of the coupons must be handed over to the apex body DGU along with list of the buyers. The name of the printing press of the coupons printed and the unsold Coupons must be surrendered to the apex body DGU on or before October 25.  
The DGU had imposed blanket ban on any kind of monetary collection/selling of coupons/lotteries/badges/selling of concert tickets or calendars etc by any organization(s) which reflect the name Gorkha/Nepali within the jurisdiction of the Dimapur Gorkha Union, Dimapur District which as published in a local daily. The ban was imposed following the standing order of the Home Department, Government of Nagaland Vide Order No. GAB/GEN/&/26/97 Dated 25th Sept’2000, the Government had banned sale of coupons/badges/calendars/conducting of lotteries and any kind of donations within Nagaland.
