6/8 Gorkha Rifles and 5/9 Gorkha Rifles of Loktak Brigade apprehended one active cadre

Imphal, November 21 2011: Troops of 6/8 Gorkha Rifles and 5/9 Gorkha Rifles of Loktak Brigade under Red Shield Division in a joint operation apprehended one active cadre of the proscribed UG group KYKL from Upokpi Khunou, Bishnupur today.

The arrested person identified himself as SS Lance Corporal Salam Eboyai alias Zalim (37), Son of Salam Khumai, resident of Upokpi Khunou, Bishnupur.

He further revealed that he was trained in 1993 at a KYKL camp in Chandel, Phiram in batch No 7.He was involved in weapon transportation, tax collection and extortion in Moirang and Bishnupur areas on behalf of the banned outfit.

He was handed over to Bishnupur Police Station, stated a press release of PIB (DW) today.
