Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh welcomes the UP Cabinet decision of state partition

Gangtok,/Sikkim Nov18: Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh (BGP) has welcomed the decision of the Uttar Pradesh government to create new states by dividing UP into four parts and has urged other state governments to initiate the process of addressing the long pending demands for creation of new states. The BGP has stressed that an initiative should be taken at the earliest to address demands for Gorkhaland and Telengana statehood.
‘We welcome the UP Cabinet decision to divide the state into four separate smaller states. Now other states in India should also follow the example of Uttar Pradesh and help in creating smaller states,” said working president, Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh, Rev Dr Enos Das Pradhan.
In a BGP press communiqué released today, Pradhan has said that the present agreement on Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) does not reflect the aspiration of the Gorkhas living in Darjeeling, Dooars and other parts of India and that the agreement between the West Bengal Government and the GJM should not be held up as an excuse to deny the genuine demand of the Indian Gorkhas for a separate state of Gorkhaland.
