The CPRM, considered one of the major rivals of the Morcha in the hills, has decided not to contest the civic elections. “The situation is not yet conducive for other parties to even field candidates,” said R.B. Rai, president of the party. Another Opposition party, the ABGL, said it would take a final decision on contesting the polls on November 14, a day before the last date for filing nominations.
