KOLKATA.TOI: Star Indian footballer Sunil Chhetri on Friday said it was an "honour" for him to be compared with former India captain Baichung Bhutia and it would be difficult for him to fill the Sikkimese sniper's boots.
"It is indeed an honour to be compared with him (Bhutia) but he was far great a player. I don't think I can be compared to him. It is certainly a dream for others to achieve what he has in his such a long and exciting career. His boots are too big for me to fill," Chhetri said on the sidelines of a programme.
He said the Indian team was badly missing the experience and expertise of Bhutia.
"It has been several months since his retirement and the team badly misses his expertise and experience. He has been a source of inspiration for an entire generation on and off the field," Chhetri said.
Chhetri, who now plays for city-based football club Mohan Bagan AC, was along with several other of his club-mates present for the launch of the official website and the official calendar of the club.
"The new website has been developed keeping the fans in mind. It not only will educate them about the glorious history of the club but also contains several exciting features that will help them connect with the players," club president Tutu Bose said after launching the revamped website.
