Bhaichung Bhutia: Dream comes true when I shake hand with Pele

Kolkata, Jan 6 : India's former captain Bhaichung Bhutia, who will lead India Dream Team against Superstars XI comprising footballing greats of Latin America and Europe, today said his lifetime dream would fulfill when he shake hands with Pele on January 23.

Bhutia, who hung his boots from international tournament last year at the age of 35, told at newsconference that India Dream Team, comprising like IM Vihjayan, Joe Paul Anchery, Alvito d Cunha and may be two to three Bollywood players, is expected to give a good fight against Superstars XI to be led by World Cup winners Cafu of Brazil.

Bhutia, though refused to name of Bollywood players, but insiders said John Abraham, Rahul Roy are the two, who love to play football with a simple request.

The Indian team would be coached Shyam thapa.

Bhutia said the team list of India would be announced later after consultations with players and coach.

In their first venture into football, JPR Events is organising the 90-minute mega-football show between Superstars XI and Indian Dream XI at Yuba Bharati Krirangan (Salt Lake Stadium) on January 23 at 2 pm.

JPR Events CEO Sunil Hamal, however, said coming of Brazilian great Roando would be confirmed by next week as the striker was suffering from Dengue.

A fresh list of Superstars XI was released today include Cafu, Pele, Regi Blinker (Netherlands), Roberto Carlos (Brazil), Zola, Denilson (Brazil), Pierre van Hooijdonk (Netherlands),Ansgar Brinkmann (Germany), Winston Bogarde (Netherlands), Christian Karambeu (France), Roland Kopp (Germany), Rudolf Schenker (band member of legendary rock band Scorpions) Ronald De Boer, Marcel Oerlemans and coach Rudd Gullit.

The names of Marcel Desailly (France), Paolo Maldini (Italy), Rene Higuita of Colombia and Ronaldo of Brazil are missing in the fresh list.

Of course Pele will be the ambassador of Superstars XI.

Sunil Hamal said the tourists will arrive here on January 2, a day after their first match in Kathmandu against Nepal Dream Team. He said Superstars XI will visit another 18 countries after India match for football promotion in the globe.

After the match there will be an auction at hotel and the funds to be raised would go to an NGO and Football Players Association of India, which Bhutia heads.

Bhutia said the funds for FPAI would be used for the benefit of poverty-stricken sick players both current and former.

Bhutia also praised the West Bengal government, especially the sports ministry, headed by Madan Mitra to providing stadium and other facilities to host the match.

The occasion also witnessed the symbolic release of ticket, which would be available at prices of Rs 300 and Rs 500 from January 8 from different outlets in the city. (UNI)
