The Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha (GJMM) leadership is confident about the inclusion of the mouzas from the Terai and the Dooars region under the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA).

“We
are hopeful that our demands will be fulfilled as we had a very good
meeting with chief minister Miss Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata yesterday,”
said the chief of the GJMM, Mr Bimal Gurung, at Bagdogra airport today.
The GJMM has been demanding to include 398 mouzas from the Terai and the Dooars under the GTA.
“We have accepted the decision of the state government that the committee chaired by Mr Justice (retd) Shyamal Sen would submit its report on the land issue to the state government in June and the GTA election will be held in the Darjeeling Gorkha Autonomous Council (DGHC ) area either at the end of June or in early July,” Mr Gurung said. He said it depends on the high-power committee report that how many additional areas would be included in the GTA. sns
