GJMM team meets PC in Delhi

DARJEELING , 26 JUNE: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha delegation led by its chief Mr Bimal Gurung today requested the Union home minister, Mr P.Chidambaram, at Delhi to look into the matter of state-formed fact-finding committee and verify the Shyamal Sen report on the territories to be included under the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) jurisdiction.
The five-member delegation first met the presidential candidate, Mr Pranab Mukherjee. One of the members of the delegation, Mr Amar Singh Rai, said: "The meeting was just a courtesy to wish him (Pranab Mukherjee) luck in the presidential poll."
However, the GJMM did not reveal whether they are going to contest in the upcoming GTA election. "Since the tripartite agreement of the GTA was signed by the state, Centre and the GJMM we wanted to inform the Central government about the Shyamal Sen report and subsequent injustice meted out on us,” said the Morcha president, Mr Bimal Gurung. After the meeting, Mr Rai said over phone: "We requested the home minister to look into the matter and he assured us help, though the matter rests with the state government." Mr Rai added that they have sought an appointment with chief minister Miss Mamata Banerjee on 28 and 29 June to know more about the fact-finding committee.  He added: "After getting more information on the committee we will take up the issue with the Central committee members to decide on the GTA election."
