No further construction of the shopping complex near the Novelty Cinema Hall will proceed’- Pariyar

Kalimpong|Mukesh Sharma: After facing much disagreement by the locals of the area, the Municipality still went further and started the initial construction work of the Shopping Complex near the Novelty Cinema Hall. But the continuous rainfall within the last few days plus the Wednesday night’s heavy rainfall has triggered a second landslide as it counts only 10 days of construction, where the mud cutting work was on full swing. Now the Shopping Complex project amounting Rs 2 crores is causing much inconvenience to the people. The landslide spot located in between the Sub Divisional Library and Police Quarters, is now posing a threat to one of the buildings of Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC) along with the Court Inspector and the FI Quarters. The Sub Divisional Police has directly blamed the Kalimpong Municipality for the threat caused by the landslide.
