GJM says no to proposed Siliguri police commissionerate

Darjeeeling (WB), Jul 31 (PTI) The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) today opposed the proposed setting up of a police commissionerate in Siliguri sub-division of Darjeeling district. GJM general secretary Roshan Giri asked the state government to put on hold the proposed setting up of the police commissionerate at Siliguri till the Fact Verification Committee set up by government submits the final report on the party's demand for more area under the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA). "The state government should first solve our demand for more areas under the GTA before setting up of the proposed police commissionerate," he said. "We have told our opposition to the setting up of the police commissionerate of Siliguri to the chief secretary Samar Ghosh," Giri said. The state government had earlier proposed setting up a police commissionerate at Siliguri.
