Warrant against Bimal Gurung issued - No relief for GJM leaders from Court cases

The cases filed against the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) leaders during the 4 years of Gorkhaland agitation have been pestering them till date. A suo-moto case was filed against the GJM Chief cum Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) Chief Executive, Bimal Gurung for blocking the NH31 A during the time of agitation in 2011. Similar kind of two cases GR Case No 26 and GR Case No 32 has been filed at the Kalimpong ACJM Court. Due to the lack of the indicted persons, the Court has further issued a warrant against the GJM Chief along with 15 other accused on October 19. Advocate Rajiv Parajuli is looking after the case from the GJM’s side. As per the sources, the Court has ordered the Darjeeling Police Superintendent to submit a report regarding the case. In one hand the GJM leaders are frequently visiting the Court while in the other due to the absence of GJM Chief in the hearing of one of the cases, a warrant has been issued against him. After the Supreme Court’s orders to implement strict actions against those who obstruct the National Highways, the Police themselves are working on the case. Still after the State Government’s assurance to the GJM to review all the cases apart from the murder cases in respect to the GTA agreement, the GJM leaders do not seem to get any relief from the Court. The Kalimpong MLA and GJM spokesperson, Dr Harka Bahadur tiresome with his unending visits to the Court was also reported saying that it is a conspiracy against the Morcha leaders.
