The opposition parties have criticized the statement delivered by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) regarding the President’s announcement of providing Rs 200 crores per annum for 3 years to the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA), during the 1st day of the Budget Session at the Parliament on Thursday.
It may be recalled that the GJM General Secretary, Roshan Giri on Thursday had said that the announcement was nothing new and it has already mentioned in the GTA agreement that the Centre will be providing the same. He had said that they had instead demanded for Rs 400 crores per annum every 3 years.Slamming Giri’s statement, the Communist Party of Revolutionary Marxist (CPRM) today alleged the Morcha of acting as a thug. Mohan Poudyal, the CPRM sub divisional Secretary said that the GJM has made the Gorkhaland a matter of joke. He alleged that the GJM takes out the Gorkhaland issue only when there is a tiff between the Morcha and the Centre and the state government. He added that the people are losing faith on GJM. Further he said that the Morcha leaders keeps on repeating that the oppositions should also come forward and carry out their agitation programmes. But on the other hand the oppositions are not allowed to do so, he added. “There is no democracy and proper environment for the oppositions to carry out their programmes here”, he said.
