The former Vice Chancellor of Sikkim University, Dr Mahendra P Lama, Geberal Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Gorkha League (ABGL), Pratap Khati, Trinamool’s (TMC) Chewang Bhutia, the GTA Sabhasads and the GJM youth leaders, Dawa Tamang and Nima Tamang come together today to discuss and deliberate the Gorkhaland issue.
Dr MP Lama after the meeting while speaking to the reporters informed that it was just a formal meet and no such big things lie behind it.
“It is not a political meet. All I think is a separate state should be formed at the right time, right place and in a right way”, said Dr Lama.
He expressed that everybody needs to think properly and is the responsibility of all the leaders and the public. This is not entitled with a single person, he added.
Further he notified that nowhere in the Indian Constitution it is mentioned that how much area is needed or exact population figure, in order to form a separate state. It should also be noticed that apart from the Darjeeling and Dooars areas, there are states everywhere in the country.
However, Dr Lama refrained from speaking more by saying that he is at the end a teacher whose work is to impart knowledge and experiences.
