Dharna at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi continued today on 08/02/2013 on behalf of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha in the presence of Sri Rooshan Giri, General Secretary, Central Committee GJMM, Mrs Asha Gurung , President Naari Morcha , GJM , Members of Sabha, Gorkhaland Territorial Administration members of Vidhyarthi Morcha led by Deep Thapa, Priyavardan Rai, General Secretary of Youth Wing of GJMM, Manoj Sankhar, President of Delhi GJMM, Members of Trade Union, Naari Morcha, representatives of several internal organisations of GJMM from Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Kurseung, Delhi, Gurgaon, were also present today. Around 1000 people attended the Dharna today. More than 50 representatives of GJMM internal association of Teachers who have come from Darjeeling also attended the protest movement today.
Today being the 2nd Anniversary of the Shipsu incident wherein on 08/02/2010 as a result of an indiscriminate firing by West Bengal Police, three youths namely Neeta Khawas. Bimla Rai and Vicky Lama had lost their lives in Shipshu ,Dooars . A protest march was held at Jantar Mantar today alleging that the West Bengal Government has not yet conducted an impartial inquiry and nobody so far who is involved in the conspiracy has been brought to book.No body from the West Bengal Police has been asked to show cause nor been chargesheeted so far by the Administration. The issue has been lying in cold storage, intentionally kept by the State Government to harp comminism and partiality towards Gorkhas. A compalint filed before the Hon'ble Human Rights Commission, New Delhi is still pending , we shall follow up the status of the case and try our level best to seek justice on behalf of the bereaved family. 21 members of Vidhyarthi Morcha shaved their heads yesterday and protested in a strong voice saying that till the day the deceased persons are not delivered justice, protest movement for an impartial inquiry into the said incident shall continue and our demand for a separate state of Gorkhaland will never lose momentum.
We shall also forward Memorandum to the Union Home Minister, Hon'ble Prime Minister and the Hon'ble President of India stating clear and valid grounds for creation of a separate state of Gorkhaland. We shall also hand over Press Releases to all the media organisations who are keen to cover our movement for creation of a separate state. We shall forward Memorandum to the Hon'ble Human Rights Commission seeking an update of the developments in the investigation of the Shipshu incident.
