GJM has created a path for the forces to get deployed here - People’s Forum

It has not been officially announced whether the CRPF and Para-military forces will be deployed in the hills or not. However, the news of its possibility has created a stir in the hills.

The Darjeeling Dooars People’s Forum (DDPF) has alleged the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) of creating a path for the forces to get deployed here, as the Morcha had declared that the 3rd phase of its Gorkhaland agitation would be violent. The General Secretary of the Forum, Praveen Gurung today said that an undemocratic situation has been created in the hills at present. He said apart from being violent, the Morcha has also talked about handing ammunitions to the Yuva and Naari Morchas. Gurung complained that the Morcha attacks and disrupts the party programmes which are carried out by the oppositions here and the administration also does not allow the oppositions to carry their programmes in public. Adding to this he said that the law and order in the hills has been deteriorated. Gurung appealed the public not to panic over the coming of the forces, as they would depart after the situation get under control. He added that the forces will not do anything if the agitation is democratic.Further, the General Secretary said that the forces are required to nab those accused who are involved in murder cases. He alleged the Morcha leaders of keeping the public in the frontline and misusing them. “Despite of being involved in the Madan Tamang murder case, the GJM leaders are roaming freely in VIP vehicles with a red light atop”, said Gurung.Likewise, he said that the 1986 situation cannot be compared to that of today as the situation now is different. In this context he mentioned that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader, Chewang Bhutia should not compare the situations then and now.Lastly, he informed that some persons pelted stones at his house on Saturday, however, he has not been delivered security by the administration.
