In a press release on behalf of Delhi GJMM, Ranjan Sharma, General Secretrary of Delhi GJMM, stated that a team lead by Sri Bimal Gurung , President ,GJMM Central Committee , Mr Rooshan Giri, General Secretary , GJMM - Central Committee  and Mr. Trilok Dewan, MLA, Darjeeling met Mr Pranav Mukherjee,  Hon'ble  President today at Rashtrapati Bhawan. 

The team also forwarded a Memorandum to the President  requesting that  baseless criminal cases and FIR's lodged against GJMM representatives alleging criminal conspiracy and  concocted criminal activities, during the movement of GJMM demanding statehood be  withdrawn. A similar provision also exists in the GTA Act . The issue that people of the hills not belonging to schedule caste category may be legally termed as tribals was also discussed. The team also submitted that GTA may be included in the North East Council and further discussed issues of strengthening and improvement of  tourism industry in GTA. . The team also requested that a separate regiment in the Indian Army may be established specially for Gorkhas residing in GTA area as well as Dooars and Tarai.

Dharna at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi continues, today being 39th Day under the leadership of Mrs Asha Gurung, President Naari Morcha, GJM members of Naari Morcha Central Committee, members of Vidyarthi Morcha, Delhi GJM unit, Haryana GJM  and other supporters of Gorkhaland were present today.


Team headed by Mrs Asha Gurung, President Naari Morcha, GJM , Mr Manoj Shankar, President GJMM Delhi, Ranjan Sharma , General Secretary,  Delhi , Smt Sashi Doma , Member Core Committee, Meena Thapa,VP, Naari Morcha and  Hari Ghatani, YM  and Rohit Sharma, Vidhyarthi Morcha met Mr Jaswant Singh , MP Darjeeling and discussed the present scenario of movement of GJMM. Jaswant Singh assured that he would talk to the Home Ministry and raise the issue of Gorkhaland with Senior BJP members and treat the issue of equal importance with Telangana.


Representatives of Vidhyarthi Morcha,ie youngsters are playing an active and pivotal role in the ongoing campaign at Jantar Mantar. Dharna at Jantar Mantar is likely to continue till we recieve any positive response from the State or Central Government.
