Kolkata,: Amid a fresh turmoil in the hills, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will visit Darjeeling for three days from May 14.
Her visit assumes significance in the light of recent clashes between supporters of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) and the Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF).
During her visit, the Chief Minister will hold talks with the members of Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA) and attend a number of Government programmes, state secretariat sources today said.
Formed in July last year, the GTA, headed by GJM leaders, is an autonomous body, responsible for the development of Darjeeling.
The cordial relation between the GJM and the state Government soured last year with the GJM leaders complaining about 'inadeuate' power in the hands of GTA.
