TMC plans campaign against GJM in Dooars
The Trinamool Congress is reportedly planning to start a counter campaign in the Dooars region against the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha’s alleged falsifying announcements prior to the panchayat elections, said sources.

According to TMC sources, Morcha supremo Bimal Gurung has allegedly announced 396 mouzas of the Dooars region would be soon incorporated into the GTA while campaigning for the polls in the region. Meanwhile, the trilateral agreement between the central and state governments and GJM specifically prohibits the possible inclusion of any mouza of the Dooars into the GTA. Nonetheless, Gurung is allegedly trying to mislead people by his false statements, stated the TMC sources.
Following this, the TMC is set to start a counter-campaign in the region. Party sources said heavyweight TMC leaders of the hills would be brought here to nullify the Morcha’s propaganda. Former GJM leaders such as Nanita Goutam, Wilson Champramari and Pranay Lama, who have joined the TMC, are likely to take part in this campaign that is expected to start from July 18, said TMC sources.
“Mamata Bannerjee is expected to visit North Bengal on July 23 or 24 to campaign for the forthcoming rural polls. Our leaders from the hills are set to campaign in the Dooars region before her arrival,” they added. (EOIC)
