Additional central forces being deployed

Kalimpong, Pradip Lohagun: With the agitation for separate statehood gaining momentum in the Darjeeling Hills, the state government has revved up the presence of central forces and is continuing with its large-scale detention of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leaders and cadres.

Five CRPF companies are already deployed across the three sub-divisions and the government has called for 10 more. One of the companies from Lalgarh reached Kalimpong today. The newly arrived CRPF personnel reported at the Kalimpong police station after which they were sent to Algarah and are camped at the Algarah Janta Bhawan.

Meanwhile, another company of the SSB, deployed along NH 31A that arrived here on Friday has been accommodated at Triveni Guest House.
